European Film Agencies Attend EFARN’s 15th Annual Meeting in Berlin

Nevafilm Research Company represented Russia at the 15th meeting of the European Film Agency Research Network (EFARN) which took place in Berlin’s film museum.

 

“Deutsche Kinemathek” in October 2017. The meeting hosted by the German Federal Film Board revolved around issues associated with the digital disruption of the European film industry. Among other things, EFARN members discussed the changing nature of media consumption, the increasing popularity of online streaming services with younger audiences, as well as the redefined gender roles in the quickly changing film industry.

 

Nevafilm Research Senior Analyst Xenia Leontyeva gave a talk on the exhibition fee bill drafted by the Russian Ministry of Culture in August. If implemented, the bill would increase the exhibition fee from 3500 rubles ($60) to five million rubles ($84000). Leontyeva walked the meeting participants through the specifics of the proposed measure and presented the findings of a Nevafilm Research study evaluating its potential consequences.
