According to Nevafilm Research, as of January 1, 2024, the number of cinemas and screens in Russia reached record levels – 2,294 sites and 5,868 screens. This was due to the opening of new venues under the Cinema Fund's programme for subsidising screens in small towns. In addition, many exhibitors have reopened their previously closed cinemas on the eve of the New Year holiday box office receipts.
